Eastbourne, United Kingdom
Dating from 1873, Devonshire Park has long been an attraction within Eastbourne and for the wider South coast of England. The master plan is to provide a scheme to carefully preserve and enhance the heritage significance of the site, whilst creating modern venues and facilities for
users and visitors alike.

The Welcome Building was proposed as a 'new link block' between the existing Listed heritage buildings as a part of the 2012 master plan for Devonshire Park. It places 2 volumes of conference space at a semi-basement level to reduce the visual impact on the Grade II Listed Congress Theatre.

Welcome Building Programme Concept
The Welcome Building resolves vertical circulation for the Congress Theatre and provides an effective link towards the Winter Garden.
It accommodates two fit-for-purpose conference halls (the existing Devonshire Park Halls are to be demolished to enable extension of the tennis field), two breakout/hospitality spaces, provides central box office/registration and a public coffee bar.
